Congratulations to Steve Weiss and the entire Zacuto team for taking home the Emmy for “The Great Camera Shootout 2010.” In his speech, Steve Weiss thanks all of the “Worldwide indie filmmakers who’ve really supported all of programs that we are making on the web.” Here is a rip from the Zacuto Vimeo Page.

“On November 6, 2010, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awards Zacuto Films an Emmy with “The Great Camera Shootout 2010” in the category for Outstanding Achievement for a Program Series. Additionally, FilmFellas Cast 7: “Masters of Non-Fiction, were among the 7 nominees. “FilmFellas” and “The Great Camera Shootout 2010,” were the only web based programs included in the nominations and the selected shows competed with major television and cable programs. A Word from Producer Steve Weiss:

“Last year I petitioned to the The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to create a category for web series.  With no sign in doing so, they did make a change this year in allowing web content to enter in any category, but to compete with television. FilmFellas and The Great Camera Shootout were the only web shows nominated for Emmy’s this year, but that glass ceiling has now been broken. Any one of us in the international indie film movement, can enter their work in the Emmy’s as long as the programming format fits the category and competes with television programming head on.We all know that our community is doing ground-breaking, incredible work. Let’s go challenge television and get the awards due us!!! We want television to come calling on the indie film movement for programming. We CAN do this! Thank you for all your support, let’s sit back and watch how exciting this is all about to get. ~Steve”
