Hybrid IS System Canon will be using a new â€œHybrid ISâ€ system for image stabilization. The new IS system will compensate for both rotational and linear camera shake, whatever that means. It uses an â€œangular velocity sensorâ€ and an â€œacceleration sensorâ€ to compensate the lens elements for both types of movement. All of this translates to better image stabilization and better images for all of us HD DSLR shooters.
