SIGMA just unveiled four new lenses from their ART line that will have many photographers and filmmakers check their wallets and bank accounts in order to pick one of these up. 14mm F1.8, 135mm F1.8, 24-70mm F2.8 and 100-400mm F5-6.3. Launched in 2012, the SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG HSM was the first lens in the Art line. We reviewed the 20mm F1.4 a while ago and found it was a superb choice even for video shooters. This popular series of lenses now features an extra four siblings. All SIGMA Art lenses come in various mount options: SIGMA, Nikon or Canon. We have summed up the details of announcements for you. First, let’s look at the 14mm F1.8: SIGMA 14mm F1.8 DG HSM The new SIGMA 14mm lens has an incredible speed of F1.8. Among interchangeable lenses for Digital SLRs this is the world’s first and only F1.8 ultra-wide angle lens. The SIGMA 14mm F1.8 covers 35mm full-frame sensors. Ultra-wide lenses usually suffer from chromatic abberation. In order to minimize this, the Sigma 14mm lens includes three FLD (Low Dispersion) glass elements as well as four SLD (Super Low Dispersion) glass elements. The ultra-wide angle lens also includes HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor) autofocus, which according to SIGMA offers “highly responsive autofocus photography”. 16 elements in 11 groups Minimum aperture: F16 Minimum focusing distance: 27cm / 10.6inches The SIGMA 14mm F1.8 will soon be available for pre-order: US: LINK EU: LINK Price has not been announced yet. SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM SIGMA first model of similar specifications, the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 EX AG ASPHERICAL DF, launched back in 2001.
