Sennheiser AVX – A New Professioanl Wireless System
At NAB 2015, Sennheiser demonstrated an inventive approach and kind of took their evolution 100 G3 wireless microphone system to the next level by introducing the Sennheiser AVX wireless set.
The newly designed compact receiver is the crown jewel of this system. It allows direct connection to any XLR input be it a camera or audio recorder device. It also rotates around the XLR connector to avoid collision with other devices mounted on your camera.
Some users will appreciate the liberating approach of having one less wire to connect between the camera and the receiver, while for other this design might be limiting.
For a quick and easy configuration, Sennheiser claims to offer a “self configuring digital transmission which eliminates time-consuming radio frequency setup. Further more, The AVX matches perfectly to your camera’s input sensitivity without having to adjust the audio level on the microphone.
On paper, this new solution looks good for documentary work, Electronic News Gathering and wedding filming. We are looking forward having a kit to test.
