Replay XD1080 – A flashlight that records 1080p, sort of

The GoPro HD cameras really filled a niche market when they gave sports and action lovers the ability to place a lightweight ultrarugged, waterproof and affordable 1080p recording device anywhere they could think of. A way to create some breathtaking videos that definitely influenced sports and action filmmakers.

Obviously the company Replay wants to get a share of the cake with their competing XD1080 camera that looks like a flashlight.

According to their press release it’s the smalles and lightest “full hd camera “on the market”.

Unfortunately the video does not look like 1080p, but rather like 720p with a strong upscaling and sharpening filter applied. Compared to the GoPro (see footage below) the press release video of the Replay (see above) seems to be a whole different league. So if you don’t mind the quality loss and you need something even more lightweight and small than the GoPro HD cameras for the same price ($299) then the Replay might be right for you. On their website the XD1080 is
currently out of stock.
