Redrock Micro Follow Focus "blue" – all the features we need

August 29th, 2011 Jump to Comment Section

Something I’ve missed reporting about is the availability of the Redrock Micro follow focus “blue” that I found very impressive when it was announced at this year’s NAB show.

Over the first generation of Redrock’s follow focus units this one has a heaviliy improved gearbox that is much more solid and also has a friction adjustment built in.

It also has Redrock’s quick release clamp which I find very useful and well crafted and a bunch of other features that help make the hdslr shooters job easier.

The most impressive among these being the adjustable hard end stops (if your photo lens doesn’t have them, so you don’t lose focus marks) and of course the illuminated blue marking disc (insetad of a ff light you need in dim lighting conditions).

For $795 this follow focus really has all you could wish for, even a reversable gear (for when you use small lenses, as many of us usually do) is on the feature list and you can extend it to become a double sided studio follow focus.

This is a very affordable piece of featureness. I hope we can get a unit for testing to scientifically inspect the functionality of all of the above.

The Redrock Micro Follow Focus “blue” currently ships within 7-14 days. Get it HERE
