Peak Design Travel Duffel 35L and Travel Duffelpack 65L

Peak Design Travel Duffel 35L and Travel Duffelpack 65L

Peak Design, the company famous for making quality bags and backpacks, is back with the introduction of two new bags in the Peak Design Travel series: the Travel Duffel 35L and the Travel Duffelpack 65L. These bags are everyday bags and not photo/video specifics, but you can quickly and easily convert them for your next shoot with the Packing Cubes. Let’s take a closer look!

Peak Design Travel Duffel 35L

Less than a month after successfully launching the Travel Tripod on Kickstarter that already pledge over $7M, Peak Design is already back! Let’s start with the smallest one, the Travel Duffel 35L. This little bag is for your daily adventures, may it be sports, camping with friends, traveling, and photo/video uses too.

When you buy the Travel Duffel 35L, it is empty: there are no dividers or protection for transporting gear. For that, Peak Design introduced the Packing Cubes last year to transform your everyday bag into a camera bag. These pouches are sold separately and are available in different sizes to suit your needs.

Indeed, the bag has a capacity of 35L: it measures 56cm x 34,5cm x 26cm, and when side flaps are entirely out, it is 61cm long. These dimensions make it international carry-on luggage approved by most airlines.

The Travel Duffel 35L is lightweight at just 0,9kg when it’s empty. It is made of 400d weatherproof nylon canvas on the outside as well as the shell, and there is a waterproof bottom liner on the inside. There is a large weatherproof zip to quickly and securely open/close the main compartment.

In terms of storage, there are two pockets inside the main compartment, as well as four external pockets to store small personal items. There is even an ID cardholder.

To grab the bag and handle it, there are two padded top handles (you can remove the padding if you want) with a magnetic clasp. Also, it comes with a shoulder strap that you can remove and store in the bag.

Peak Design Travel Duffelpack 65L

The Travel Duffelpack 65L is the bigger brother as its capacity is almost twice of what the Travel Duffel 35L can take. Note that the original size of this bag is 45L, and by extending the two external expansion zips, you reach the 65L capacity. Indeed, this bag is more massive and will not check as carry-on luggage; it is 66cm x 42 cm x 34cm when fully extended. The bag is more substantial when empty, at around 1.77kg.

Also, you can carry it on your back thanks to the padded backpack-style shoulder and waist straps. If you don’t need these, you can store the straps in the magnetically sealed flaps.

The Travel Duffelpack 65L is made of 600d weatherproof nylon canvas. It should be more “resistant” than the Travel Duffel 35L. A bigger bag means more weight inside, and to handle it, there are six padded grab handles on the sides, ends, and top of the bag. It features two internal and two external pockets for additional storage.

The main zipper features a burly #10 weatherproof zip (that you can lock to avoid theft). Inside the main compartment, you can put up to four Peak Design Packing Cubes.

Pricing and Availability

This time, the Travel Duffel 35L and the Travel Duffelpack 65L are not launched on Kickstarter. They are already available on the Peak Design’s website or via B&H.

The Travel Duffel 35L retails for $129.95 while the larger Travel Duffelpack 65L is $219.95. They are compatible with every Peak Design Packing Tools, but none of them comes with any of the bags. The good thing is, these bags have a lifetime guarantee.

What do you think of these two new Peak Design Travel bags? Do you already own Peak Design’s products? Do you often use a duffel bag in your daily life? Let us know in the comments!
