New MTF Lens Conversion Kit for FUJINON MK Zooms and L-Mount to PL Adapter

British company MTF is known for their high-end lens adapters and accessories. The latest addition to their lineup is a conversion kit that enables mounting FUJINON’s popular MK zooms on to an L-Mount camera such as the Panasonic S1H. Furthermore, MTF has a new L-Mount to PL lens adapter on offer.

The first new product isn’t called “adapter” for a reason. You have to (non-destructively) modify the back of your Fujinon MK zoom in order to mount it to any L-Mount camera, hence the name “conversion kit” rather than just “adapter”.

MTF FUJINON MK Zoom Conversion Kit

This conversion kit comes as a set of two pieces plus needed accessories. First, you have to replace the rear part of the MK’s housing (the green ring) with the supplied replacement collar. Then you have to add the also supplied stainless L-Mount. Done. All necessary screws are included plus you’ll get an L-Mount rear lens cap.

One thing to keep in mind here is that L-Mount equipped cameras such as Panasonic S1H, Panasonic S1, the Sigma fp, or LEICA SL2, do sport a full-frame sensor but the FUJINON MKs only cover s35 sized sensors. Therefore you’ll have to switch your camera into crop-mode to avoid vignetting. Also, there’s no real information if every mount option of the MKs (E-Mount, M4/3, and X-Mount) can be converted with this MTF kit. I guess since it’s specifically called MK conversion kit, the MKX (Fuji X-Mount) version might fall short here.

MTF L-Mount to PL Mount Adapter

If you’re more the pro cine glass type of guy, maybe this new PL adapter is for you. MTF has a new adapter on sale to mount PL glass to L-Mount quipped cameras. This time, it’s a real adapter, just mount it in between camera and lens and you’re all set. The adapter comes with a shim set for accurate back focus, an Arca Swiss-type support toe and an aluminium PL cap.

Since most PL lenses are designed for s35 sensors, the same warning as above applies here: The Panasonic S1H camera sports a full-frame sensor, you’ll have to switch it to crop mode in order to work with s35 PL glass.

Another warning which applies for both solutions, the MK conversion kit and the PL adapter: You might want to add some kind of lens support to your rig since larger lenses tend to put a lot of stress on the mount.

Pricing and Availability

Both new MTF solutions are available now and you can purchase them through their website. The FUJINON MK conversion kit is £225.00 (roughly $295.00), the L-Mount to PL Mount adapter is £365.00 (about $480.00).
