MOZA AirCross 2 - Lightweight Gimbal Available for Pre-order

MOZA AirCross 2 is a new gimbal from Gudsen. It only weighs around 1kg (2.3 lbs), but it can carry up to 3.2kg (7 lbs) payloads. It features larger camera mounting space, L-bracket for vertical mode, high-capacity battery with 7.8V outputs, Smart wheel for follow focus operation, FPV mode, Inception mode, and Sport mode. It can also track objects with the help of a smartphone and it is compatible with two iFocus-M motors to synchronize zoom and focus for dolly zoom shots. The gimbal is now available for pre-order and it comes in two colors – black or white.

Back in April 2019 during NAB show in Las Vegas, Gudsen showcased their new MOZA AirCross 2 gimbal, a successor to the original AirCross. Our first look article with the video can be found here:

The AirCross line has always been a more compact and lightweight version of the MOZA Air line of gimbals.  The new MOZA AirCross 2 is also a more compact and lightweight gimbal than the MOZA Air 2, but the payload has been increased when compared to the original MOZA AirCross. The development of this new gimbal has been finalized and it can now be pre-ordered.

What are its specs?

MOZA AirCross 2 Gimbal

The new MOZA AirCross 2 only weighs 1kg – to be precise 1.050g (2.3 lbs) with the battery included. The maximum payload is, however, an impressive 3.2kg (7 lbs). The gimbal should, therefore, be able to handle most mirrorless and DSLR cameras on the market.

The AirCross 2 features larger camera mounting space so it is compatible with a wide range of cameras and lenses. The roll arm of MOZA AirCross 2 can be positioned at either side, allowing the camera to be mounted from the left or right side, which helps to change the center of gravity of the bearing to make balancing easier. This could be especially useful when mounting the BMPCC 4K and 6K cameras as their bodies are exceptionally wide. Furthermore, the L bracket makes it easier to switch the camera between horizontal and vertical mode.

The 3000mAh battery provides the MOZA AirCross 2 with up to 12 hours of battery life and it can be fully charged in only 1.5 hours with an 18W fast charger. The battery features its own USB charging interface and can be charged by the external power supply. Three Multi-CAN outputs with a 7.8V power supply can supply power to cameras and other accessories.

The improved Inception mode 3.0 (rotating the camera around the “lens axis”) now features automatic rotation, speed adjustment, and angle control. It is no longer necessary to manually control the joystick during shooting. There is also an FPV mode for full-range 360° synchronous movement, Sport gear mode for fast movement with ease, and the gimbal can also capture hyperlapse, panorama, and includes more smart modes.

All three-axis can be locked via latches for easier transportation. The MOZA AirCross 2 includes one 1/4’ and two 3/8’ screw holes that allow users to mount accessories while the three Multi-CAN ports allow set up of dual follow focus system or other equipment. The gimbal comes in both black and white versions.

Customizable buttons like the smart wheel, dial wheel, and smart trigger provide the user with immediate, seamless camera control, while the OLED screen provides an intuitive, bright, display of the gimbal status and camera parameters.

MOZA AirCross 2 is compatible with additional products from MOZA portfolio, like the follow focus motor MOZA iFocus-M or the MOZA Slypod. It even supports dual follow focusing system, synchronizing both zoom and focus, making it easy to perform “dolly zoom” shots.

MOZA App Smart Features for AirCross 2

The MOZA App can track objects with the gimbal. It does so by mounting the smartphone above the camera, adjusting the angle of view of the smartphone consistent with that of the camera, and selecting the target on the phone’s app interface.

The gimbal also includes a Mimic motion control feature. It mimics the movement of the phone thanks to its gravity sensor. Users can adjust the sensitivity of the gimbal movement for more control and precision.
