Movmax MUTO3000 and Movmax N2 Arm Announced

Movmax MUTO3000 and Movmax N2 Arm Announced

Movmax has just introduced two products: the MUTO3000, an electric film tricycle, and the N2 Arm, an air/hydraulic shock-absorbing system. If you combine these two products, you can move your camera at speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph) while getting rocksteady footage using the N2 Arm. Let’s take a closer look at it!

If you’ve never heard of Movmax before, this is normal; it is a new Chinese grip-specialized brand that is part of the GMCine group. The wireless video system company VAXIS is also part of GMCine. According to GMCine, Movmax ” will fully focus on developing and providing great moving shooting equipment solutions for the professional cinema market. Movmax will always launch products with a global vision, top quality, and super high-cost performance.”

Movmax MUTO3000 Features

The Movmax MUTO3000 is an electric tricycle that is specifically designed for video production. This scooter runs off one big 72V 40.000 mAh lithium polymer battery that gives juice to a 3000-watts high torque motor. According to Movmax, that gives you reach for over 100km.

Three driving modes are available: Low speed, High speed with a maximum speed of 80 km/h, and sudden violent acceleration. And of course, there is a reverse gear.

Going fast is great, but having good brakes while you’re carrying a 5-figures camera package is crucial. The Movmax MUTO3000 features front and rear wheel linkage brakes, as well as a double front wheel brake. A left swing brake lock and rear-wheel lock ensure safe parking in all kinds of terrains.

The three-wheel independent suspension system features 18 damping adjustable hinge shock absorbers so that the Movmax MUTO3000 can adapt to a variety of roads. To mount your camera to the scooter, there are universal mounting clamps that fit 42-55mm tubes. Your camera or isolation system is then mounted to one of the tubes, allowing you to adjust the height of the camera from 40cm up to 150cm.

At the front of the scooter, there is a wireless system bracket to attach any video transmitter you want. At the back of the MUTO3000, there is a large mudguard to prevent dust/rocks from the road to hit the camera.

This tricycle from Movmax looks excellent. However, whether you need a driving license or license plate to drive it on the road is dependent on your local regulations. Of course, local laws will also determine what kind of permissions you need to drive with this scooter and the N2 arm.

Movmax N2 Arm

The Movmax N2 Arm is an air/hydraulic shock absorbs system that is pretty similar to the Flowcine Black Arm. The N2 Arm consists of two main parts:

  • A shock-absorbing arm that attaches via two clamps to any standard pole. This arm is the “hydraulic part” of the N2 Arm. You can adjust the horizontal and vertical hydraulic compensation depending on the payload at the end of the arm and the terrain you’re shooting on.
  • An isolator that is mounted at the end of the arm. Your gimbal and camera are then attached to the isolator. The isolator is the “air part” of the N2 Arm. It consists of two plates that are attached together by wires. These wires will isolate your gimbal and camera from the vibrations/bumps of the road. The isolator is attached to the arm via a Mitchell mount, which is of course industry-standard on film sets.

The Movmax N2 Arm can take a payload of up to 90lbs/40kg. It is made from CNC aluminum alloy, it is 100% weatherproof, and it “fears neither cold nor heat,” according to Movmax. Below is some sample footage that looks promising so far.

Pricing and Availability

The Movmax MUTO3000 retails for $6980.00. It comes with the tricycle, a 72V charger, a 72V/5000mAh lithium battery, an adapter cable for the battery charger, two rear view mirrors, two keys, one rear fender bracket, a set of three support rods (front/rear/up), and one wireless system bracket.

The Movmax N2 Arm is $4980.00. In the included flight case, there is the N2 Arm, a wireless system bracket, one inflator, a Ronin 2 battery mount, and all the wrenches to mount it.

Both products are available now. For more information, you can visit Movmax’s website here.
