Moment, the company specialized in mobile filmmaking, has just introduced two new products: the Moment Variable ND filters for cameras, and a version for DJI Mavic 2 Pro drones. This offer from Moment is their introduction to the “traditional” camera accessories market. Let’s take a closer look at it!

Moment Variable ND Filters for Cameras

A couple of months, Moment released their first ND and CPL filters for smartphones. Today, the team at Moment is back with a combination of the two pieces of glasses, but for cameras. Indeed, they just introduced two sets of variable ND filters for DSLR/Mirrorless and cameras that accept screw-in filters in general.

Two strengths are available depending on how much light you want to cut: from 2 to 5 stops (ND4 – ND32) up to 6 to 9 stops (ND64 – ND512). The filters stops are laser-engraved, so you can see which stop you’re shooting at and recall your settings easily. Also, the Moment variable ND filters feature hard stops at both ends of the working range to prevent cross-polarization and vignetting.

On the optical side, the Moment variable ND uses Schott B270 Pro Cinema glass. According to Moment, this glass “maintains maximum optical quality.” These VND filters are made from aerospace-grade aluminum and are available in three sizes: 67mm, 77mm, and 82mm.

Moment also introduced variable ND filters specifically made for the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. Like its big brother for cameras, they feature hard stops to prevent vignetting/cross-polarization, laser engraved stops markings, two strengths are available, and they are made from aerospace-grade aluminum.

Otherwise, the VND filter for the DJI Mavic 2 Pro is even lighter because, according to Moment, they “removed as much material as possible for less weight and less stress on the drone’s gimbal.” The Moment VND for DJI Mavic 2 Pro drones uses Fused Silica glass to maximize image quality and reduce weight.
