Born in 1975, Souei Makino has enjoyed visiting temples from a young age and due to this was a child that had a great interest in the happiness of people.
In his twenties, he traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal to study and practise the doctrine of Tibetan Buddhism. He lived in a Tibetian Buddhist monastery for eight years and studied under the late Ketsun-Sampo Rinpoche, who was known as being a bridge between Japan and Tibet.
