Ignite Digi Counterweight System for MōVi Pro and DJI Ronin 2

Ignite Digi Counterweight System for MōVi Pro and DJI Ronin 2

Ignite Digi – an Australian company specialized in Freefly MōVi Pro and DJI Ronin 2 accessories – has released a new counterweight system and large lens solutions for gimbal users called Accessory Mounts. These new lightweight mounts allow you to transform your camera accessories into useful counterweights to minimize the total amount of weight required to balance large camera setups. Let’s take a closer look.

Balancing Heavy Camera Setups

I first heard of Ignite Digi while scrolling on Instagram. On a picture of a Freefly MōVi Pro setup, something bright orange catch my attention to the batteries. It is Ignite Digi’s TB50 battery adapters for MōVi Pro gimbals. It is a smart solution to mount DJI TB50 batteries onto the MōVI Pro to increase the overall running time. The company is putting a lot of effort to develop innovative gimbal products that solve real users problems.

The Freefly MōVI Pro and the DJI Ronin 2 are powerful gimbals which can support a lot of weight. But, to balance large camera setups – with a large cinema lens, a mattebox, FIZ motors – you have to use counterweights to compensate for the front heavy configuration. Most of the counterweight systems available are based around just weights and mounts, until the new Ignite Digi Accessory Mounts.

Ignite Digi Accessory Mounts

Ignite Digi idea is rather simple: instead of using more weights to properly balance the camera setup and mount camera accessories in awkward positions, why not use these camera accessories to act as counterweights? It’s smart, and it also speeds up changes from a gimbal setup to handheld or tripod configuration, because it means no counterweights attached directly to the camera.

The Accessory Mounts are bolt directly to the two carbon fiber rods of the tilt axis of the gimbal. On the Accessory Mounts itself, there are four 1/4″ through holes and five 3/8″ threaded holes. That way, you can use the 1/4″ non-threaded holes to mount your wireless transmitter/follow focus motor controller. Also, you can screw Cinemilled 1″ or 2″ counterweights directly to the Accessory Mounts if additional weight is needed to achieve proper balance.

Two versions of the Accessory Mounts are available. One is for the Freefly MōVi Pro, and the other one is 5cm longer and is especially for the DJI Ronin 2. They are made of 6061-T651 aluminum and are hard anodized in black for durability. Finally, the total weight (without counterweights and accessories) is 170g for the MōVi Pro pair and 220g for the Ronin 2 one.

Pricing and Availability

The Accessory Mounts are sold as a pair. They are available right now on Ignite Digi’s website and retails for $250 for the MōVi Pro and $275 for the Ronin 2.
