Dave reviews the wide angles: Canon 16-35mm II vs. Tokina 16-28mm

Here’s a very cool review between two very important lenses for full frame cameras (Canon 5D DSLR, Nikon D800, (Red Dragon)). The Canon 16-35mm II and the Tokina 16-28mm both feature an aperture of f/2.8 but in terms of pricing the difference is huge: $1,699 for the Canon vs. $749 for the Tokina.

Dave Dougdale’s review between the two lenses is very honest, detailed and insightful. If you enjoyed it as much as we did and will go with one of the lenses please make sure you buy it through one of his links to support him: link to Dave Dougdale’s article.
He also has a lot more written info on the topic there.

If not for rental we’d also choose the Tokina over the Canon any day. The price benefit is the cruical factor while at the same time there’s no major drawback on the Tokina, plus it’s the sharper and cleaner glass.

Europeans pay 877€ for the Tokina (LINK) and 1344€ for the Canon (LINK).
