CMOS APS-H Sensor.

CMOS APS-H Sensor.

Canon has closed the gap between its sensor’s micro lenses and the photo-diodes, resulting in lower noise and better light-gathering ability. The 1D Mark IV due out in early 2010 will have an ISO range from LO (50) to H3 (102,400).

“Canon’s improved semiconductor fabrication technology has enabled a new method of photo-diode construction. Photo-diode area is optimized and photoelectric conversion efficiency is improved. This allows more light energy to be accumulated and transferred even though pixel size has been reduced.”
