The jello effect don't go away with any update, and reports says that jello is even worse in 24p in 5D. You might get 24/25p, but at the same time the jello effect will get worse. 7D doesn't seem to have bad jello effect because it has crop sensor (which is actually closer to real film cameras than 5D's FF sensor) and new processor.

Since the readout time of the sensor shouldnt change in the 5D the jello effect itself will not get worser. I dont complain about the jello and I dont ask canon to remove the jello in the 5D (cause I know its a stupid request). I know how to handle a camera that has jello, and in worst case its easier to remove the jello then having good frame rate conversion. Manipulating in a given picture is easier than maniupulating over time.
But we could check out the jello when the firmware update is there and discuss it then. And then we can compare this and other issues with the 7D. When the update is there ...

Exactly, besides the worse jello at 24p is speculation let's not forget.

Anyway, like others have said, proof is in the pudding, go watch the 'Passage' demo video that Canon did for the 7D, even taking into account filming techniques it's pretty disappointing, especially in low light.

It's funny that that power switch is in the 'OFF' position.

That's interesting (not necessarily in the OFF position given the angle it was taken at). Well I def think the 24/25p 5D exists in the wild and my feeling is that it will come as a firmware update soon in the wake of the 7D.

Sorry.. just took a look at my 5D. 'ON' is parallel to the body. Off is at an angle. This picture is a fake... unless accessing the menus with the camera powered down is a new feature.
