Brown vertical bands

Brown vertical bands

Postby mcansler on 03 Jun 2009 18:39

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post. I currently have brown vertical bands on my 5d's live view image when I shoot at shutter speeds other than 1/30 & 1/60. Is this an interlace problem I'm experiencing?

Thanks for any help.

Fluorescent light. I can't get rid of it either under certain fluos. Camera needs a Syncro adjustment to be able to do it I think.

Anyone got a fix?

Look closer, they might still be there at 1/30 and 1/60. I just tried it and they are, just harder to spot :).

You're right, sometimes I can still see them at 1/30 and 1/60.

How do video cameras get around this problem?

Also a HUGE problem when shooting under HMI lights. Even if they are "flicker free"

Vertical bands are completely new to me. Please show us a picture, I have great difficulty with the idea that 1/43200s difference (between the exposure of different points in one line) could have anything to with a light frequency at 50Hz or 60Hz.
