Stunning: Timelapse taken to the next leven

Patryk Kizny, creator of the DitoGear slider experimented with camera projection timelapses that allow you to recreate impossible camera motion out of a static timelapse movie.

From the Lookycreative blog:

Here’s our latest test with camera projection and timelapse explained.
The camera projection technique allows to create timelapse shots where the camera is moving in such way that is impossible to achieve in the real world.
In this technique, the static timelapse shot is projected onto a recreated 3D geometry and the virtual camera is created to film the scene.
The geometry may be either recreated manually, generated basing on DEM models, LIDAR data or photogrammetricaly.

Very inspirational timelapse: Manhattan in Motion [UPDATE]

If you watch this piece please make sure you see it in HD and full screen. I’m posting this not only because there are beautiful shots in it, but also because of it’s very cinematic feel.

I think this is a great example of how dolly timelapse can add some breathtaking sequences to a video clip and give it that 1 million dollar look.

The dolly used in this timelapse video was a $895 “dynamic perception” kit.

This very affordable electronic slider is currently on back-order. I would guess the video above, which was posted last week and already has 450 thousand hits, produced some sales for the “dynamic perception” kit.

There are many other similar dolly systems currently being sold and I’m sure many of you readers have links and experience on these for us. Please share your knowledge in the comments.

[UPDATE]: The price on the dolly is $895, the deposit for preorder is $450.

Canon's TC-80N3 Time Controller.

Zach Wise at www.digitalartwork.net shares this video tutorial on time-lapse using Canon’s TC-80N3 Intervalometer. This tutorial covers the basics nicely. I suggest testing it out a few times before putting it to work. Time-lapse is a great tool to have at your disposal if used properly. Click on the link for the video.
