600fps for $1000 – but the JVC PX100 won’t do it in HD

Last year Sony showed us a semi professional slow motion camera for under $7k with their Sony FS700. What an exciting announcement that was. And we’re back to dreaming with JVC’s tiny 600fps beast. Unfortunately it is very likely that we will not see HD at that framerate.

IBC 2012 – For-A Ft-One does 900 frames at 4K

We thank our sponsor B&H who
has made cinema5D’s news
coverage of IBC 2012 possible.

This is surely not a camera for most people’s budget. None the less we found the specs of this beast quite newsworthy: 900 frames a second at 4K resolution, that’s quite an intriguing machine.

The camera has a global shutter CMOS, meaning that it will not have the rolling shutter jelly effect and it records up to 8 seconds at 900 frames.

Slomo is coming bigtime, but if you’re in for the fun with For-A’s FT-ONE camera you’ll have to sacrifice a whopping $120K.

According to the sales director the camera is available now. For more info go to: www.for-a.com

Much like RED, the Apertus idea started with the need for a great cinema camera on a forum and gathered film enthusiasts. Today they are ready to produce a serious cinema camera to defeat the competition and make today’s digital filmmakers happy.
