Canon Announces A New EOS Movie Plug-In V1.2 For FCP.
By: Jared Abrams
I picked this up via Canon Rumors but it seems to be solid. This will save us all a lot of time. The new EOS Movie V1.2 plug-in will allow the user to convert footage faster and no longer requires the root structure of the files.
Here is a rip from the post on CR.
“Launching to coincide with the start of the 2011 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, EOS Movie Plug-in-E1 for Final Cut Pro version 1.2 will make the importing of EOS Movie files even easier, allowing users to transfer files from any folder, without needing to mirror the folder structure on the camera itself.
The update also enables smoother importing from Canon’s EOS 7D, EOS 5D Mark II and EOS-1D Mark IV models, allowing users to import footage without requiring the THM file generated by the camera.”
Wide Open Camera 3-Stop Polarizer Filter.
By: Jared Abrams
Here is a quick take video on a brand new kind of filter. The Wide Open Camera & Light Craft Workshop 3-Stop Polarizer is a polarizer and ND3 combination filter. I have been working on this ever since HDSLR cameras hit the street. I always find myself adding some type of neutral density filter while shooting outside in bright sun. This filter does the trick. Currently only the 77mm size is available. The Wide Open Camera 3-Stop Polarizer is $125 US.

Kinotehnik announces a new EVF. $750 US.
By: Jared Abrams Kinotehnik announced an electronic view finder for HDSLR cameras. The new EVF is based on the LCDVF design and has a similar look. This EVF has a hinged viewfinder and can double as an on camera monitor. The 15mm rod mount system will ensure stability. I think this is one of the better designs for EVF’s. It runs off of four double “A” batteries. This could be a huge plus when traveling. However they don’t tend to last very long. Here are the specifications from the manufacture. Magic Lantern A.J. Newman Version 5.0 For Canon 5D MK II.
By: Jared Abrams
There is a new version AJ5.0 for magic lantern. I am not a big fan of the Magic Lantern firmware hack as it has proven to be unstable. This does not go over well with my paying clients. However a newer version has hit the street and is available for download now. Here is a rip from the post by Moria O’Brien.
“This 5D development has now reached the stage where most of the bugs have been eliminated (including some of those in the original ML by Trammell) and, while it is not yet publicly available, if you join the ML-Devel Google Group the code is available there – but as always with the warning that this is still in development and users install it at their own risk.”
