I will be honest I am jamming out this post right now. Here is an interview with Tim Smith from Canon USA. The bottom line here. No Canon 5D Mark III before 2011. No Firmware updates for the 7D or 1D MK IV anytime soon. Thankfully, No 4K Hair Dryer. It is a design concept only. We will get the brains but hopefully not the body. Check out what Tim has to say about the near future of Canon HDSLR’s. We stole the Canon 60D from the Canon Booth at DV Expo 2010 and used it for this shoot. It is a nice little camera.

Cinematographer Adam Richman hooked us up with the down low on the new HDSLR AKS from Cinema manufacture O’Connor. The O’ Matte Box has a lot of promise and the O’ Grips are like nothing I have ever seen before. I really dig the hard stop O’ Focus Mini follow focus. The mattebox retails for around 1K US, the O’ Grips are pricey at $500 for each section (four are pictured). The HDSLR mini follow focus will retail for around 1200 US. **I could not find any info on the new HDSLR follow focus. I think it has yet to hit the street.

I got the chance to hit up Jehu Garcia from JAG35 at DV Expo 2010. They have a new HDSLR powered cage that will incorporate the Teradek Cube HD wireless transmitter, an HDMI loop through and power, all in one package. They have also developed a really cool LCD viewfinder called the Monitor X. The estimated retail for the Monitor X is $150 US and the cost for the JAG35 Pro cage with HD wireless transmission and power will be around 3K US. The release date for both items will be sometime around January 2011.
