F&V ultra-color LED panels – CRI = 95 !!!
The respected lighting & accessories company F&V just updated their LED panel line-up. Additionally to their good quality affordable large and compact LED’s they’ve added ultra-high CRI (color rendition) panels to the mix. Nice!
We’ve been following the development of F&V lights very closely over the past years and this has several reasons:
- Even their affordable LED lights had very good CRI values (85). The 3 light kit for example
- Their lights have very strong light outputs.
- Their lights are very affordable. The 3-light kit for example goes for $1000 (LINK)
- The lights might not look supercool, but their built quality is solid and lightweight.

This is what they wrote:
As promised last week, we are very close to the 2.3 release. We’d like to run a release candidate testing first (RC1), so we’ll start this today.
As a special gesture to the donors and contributors to the ML project, we would like to thank them by giving them access to the release candidate in the forum section accessible to contributors and supporters. Currently we match donors and forum members by hand, so if we miss any of you, please contact me or Bart via PM.
For providing testing feedback, you will have to complete a small quiz. Your feedback will help us fix any remaining problems and announce a release date for the stable v2.3, which will be available to those who donate at least 10 euro to keep us running. After three weeks, this version will become free for everybody.
ML 2.3 RC1 works on Canon 5D Mark II 2.1.2, 550D 1.0.9, 60D 1.1.1, 600D 1.0.2, 50D 1.0.9 and 500D 1.1.1.

Zacuto’s grip relocator for the C300 is here

This is one of Zacuto’s extremely useful inventions this year. A cable and mount to relocate all that camera control for the Canon EOS C300
We’ve been given an introduction to Zacuto’s new Recoil Rig, the Tornado handgrip follow focus & the C300 grip relocator in April (LINK)
While we still don’t know when the cool Tornado Follow Focus will be out we have just received a release date for the new C300 grip relocator:
It will start shipping on July 5th and take another 7-10 days from there.
Grip Relocator only is $337.25 and can be ordered here:

Grip Relocator with Zgrip Handle is $565.95 and can be ordered here:

Europeans can get it at the Zacuto store.
Well that is certainly not cheap for a cable and plug, but probably very worthwhile for C300 shooters.
This also works for the Canon EOS C500 by the way.
