Quick Take: Cineroid Electronic View Finder.

I only had a few minutes to shoot this Quick Take on the new Cineroid EVF. It has HDMI Pass-Through, a Peaking focus assist feature, a Flip feature and Black and White. I believe Monochrome and Peaking are both quick buttons on the side of the LCD. There are also two Function preset buttons. The EVF runs on rechargeable batteries and will come with a hot shoe mount of some kind. The viewfinder is hinged at the top and flips up to get out of the way. The eyepiece can also be removed completely if necessary. No real image squeeze with the Canon 5D Mark II while recording. The image does scale down a little in record mode. The resolution was quite good on the LCD. It will also work as a small external monitor. It also has a small speaker and headphone jack to monitor sound. No mention of exact pricing yet. It does come with a nifty little carrying case.
Quick Take: Cinema 5D HDSLR Camera Prep.

Here is a quick video to show some of the steps we will take while prepping our cameras for a shoot. Some type of camera prep is fairly standard in the film business. In most cases a camera assistant will be paid a full day’s rate for the prep. There is no such thing as a half day, remember that. A camera prep can last anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks depending on the gig.
We wanted to show you very quickly a few things we will always check before any shoot. We will always check the sensor and spin the camera. We will always check the electronics on all of the accessories and the camera. We will also make sure that everything is physically in the case or bag. We will always test and charge up all of our batteries. No matter how small the gig. Battery maintenance is very important. We will also test all of our sound equipment. This is not the only way to prep, or the only tests to perform. Just a quick take on how we prep for a shoot.
Createasphere Expo November 3rd and 4th, 2010.

The Createasphere Expo used to be called HD Expo. They put together this little video to clear up any confusion on the topic. I will be there the first day speaking at the HDSLR Meet Up. There will be tons of vendors (typically discounted expo pricing on gear as well) and a few seminars. It is also a great opportunity to network with like minded film makers. Here is a little rip from the Createasphere website. The meet is at 10:30am November 3rd. It would be great to see some C5D viewers there.
“The Createasphere Entertainment Technology Expo in Burbank is where future technology and creative vision converge. Featuring educational sessions and interactive panels, the Expo brings together media experts and technical innovators for two days of lively discussion and knowledge-sharing that will help shape the future of the industry. A show floor with hundreds of exhibitors brings the technology to life with hands-on access to explore the latest innovations.”
Jacob's Turn A short Film By: Nick Nanton

Nick Nanton was kind enough to share this very poignant story about a boy named Jacob who has Down Syndrome. This is a prime example of a great story driven film shot with a Canon 5d Mark II. October is Down Syndrome awareness month. Please check out the The Jacob’s Turn Website for more information about this great project.
