Samyang/Rokinon Cine lenses coming [ready for pre-order]

If you’ve been shopping affordable manual prime lenses for your HDSLR then you’ve probably stumbled upon or even own the famous Samyang / Rokinon lenses like the $500 35mm f/1.4 or the $400 14mm ultra-wide.

[UPDATE]: cinema5D member Gumzster informed me that the 8mm fisheye already exists as a cine version.

[UPDATE 2]: The Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine lenses is now available for pre-order $549:

“Rokinon 35mm T1.5 cine lens will be available in U.S in few weeks and Rokinon 24mm T1.5 & 14mm T3.1 cine lens will be available in U.S in September.”

We talk about the future: Canon C300, CineDSLR and Scarlet-X

Last week was a crazy ride. The two indie cinema revolutionizers RED and Canon presented their new tech and its impact can be expected to become huge.

There’s so much to talk about and cinema5D exists for just that purpose. We’ve installed new subcategories for all 3 models in our unique forums. Come in and join us.

Our forums comprise 2 major categories:
Large Sensor DSLRs
and
Large Sensor Camcorders

Both hold a graphical interface so you can easily customize and choose the camera forums you’d like to watch.

The Canon EOS C300 forum:

With the EOS C300 Canon has entered the professional cinema market. Alongside their new cine lenses the C300 is the first in Canons Cinema EOS lineup. See the related Canon C300 announcement article here.

Technicolor Picture Profile / Style: DOWNLOAD HERE

Here’s the Technicolor CineStyle Picture Style. A picture profile for your favourite Canon vdslr (meant for the 5D but apparently also works for other Canon dslrs) that squeezes your usually linear video signal into a logarhythmic logC curve. If you don’t know what’s going on let Josh explain and if you’re still clueless you might wanna check out this nice lesson on LUTs (lookuptables) by Mitch Gross from AbelCine.

TechnicolorCo announced through their twitter account that the CineStyle download would be postponed as you read here on Tuesday. It seems this information was not right.

DOWNLOAD THE TECHNICOLOR CINESTYLE HERE and afterwards check out and contribute to our CineStyle knowledgebase (the forum discussion button below)
