Now, this is what I’m talking about. Finally a Zeiss Zoom with Canon EF mount. This should make up a little for the 7D firmware French Update. The new LWZ.2 15.5mm-45mm T2.8 with cine gears is exactly what the HDSLR community has been waiting for. I guess Canon missed the boat on this one. No mention of price that I could find yet. Killer Glass for the DSLR’s. Less barrel distortion than still zooms.

Actually, according to the Zeiss rep the price will be in the “mid 20K’s”, but think thats almost 1/2 the price of the Optimo 15-40.
I got to play with it at NAB. Price is something like $20,000. It an amazing lens.
looks really nice. Depending on its price, that might replace my Tamron 17-50

I think you’d be the first person to ever make the leap from a tamron to a 20 grand Zeiss. Sadly though I think the difference between the Zeiss and Tamron would still not be too noticeable. Put that 20grand into a cool personal project and you’ll get a lot more for your money. Make a great rental though.
