IBC 2012 – Sebastien Devaud’s Canon C100 film & interview

We thank our sponsor B&H who

Running the IBC show floors for several days and talking to some hundred people here gives you a pretty good picture of where the technical side of the digital film shooting business is going. We’re not quite at 24 cameras per second yet, but the speed at which new movie making tools hit the shelves seems both incredible and crazy.

One of the most serious players in this game is Canon’s new C100 camera that gives all the beauty, ergonomics and technology of the C300 into the hands of low level shooters.
Just like Arri Canon is often underestimated in terms of what they offer. Their products might be missing some features, but give us a complete working package with fewer and fewer compromises.

To show off the style of their entry level eos cinema camera Canon chose to equip young french filmmaker Sebastien Devaud with a C100 and send him out to shoot some very cool footage. The result was released today and is a wonderful mix of nice imagery and vivid action with a GoPro style to it.

The video is a cool represantation of the C100′s power, but the way in which the director Sebastian greeted us and showed us the footage directly on his iPad was even cooler for me. Thanks Sebastien for the nice chat!

Here’s Johnnie Behiri’s interview with Sebastien Devaud on shooting with the Canon EOS C100:

Sebastien talks about compactness, codec difference to C300, the new custom picture profile and shooting choices.

And here’s Sebastien’s C100 film “Just C it!”:
